Accessory Alert: The Chunky Necklace

We have almost hit pan on the year 2015 , and my last post of the year would feature my favourite accessory

The Chunky Necklace!!!!
Life is too short to wear boring jewelry, so dainty necklaces never really worked for me. My neck pieces have always being humongous and in your face 😛 (as some might refer to it). Statement neck pieces are an outfit savior. Throw them over any mundane and boring garment and give your look a new leash of life.

Jewelry is a very personal should tell a story about someone who is wearing it!!!!

So everyone who feels that chunky and bold jewelry are their cup of tea, keep reading. And for all others, just hang in there . You might be motivated to experiment a bit.

In this post, I have put down my 5 favourite necklaces.

Silver Beaded Necklace

A bold and chunky silver neck piece is a safe option. It can be thrown over a plain shirt or even a long tunic. Silver can be worn over any colour outfit making it a versatile accessory staple.

I am wearing this piece over a red maxi dress to break its monotony.

Red Bib Necklace

This one is my favourite and works best when worn over a round open neck top. Since red is an overwhelming colour, try to keep the rest of the outfit plain and single colour.

I am wearing it over a plain ruffled navy tee and a striped maxi skirt.

Beige and Black Stone Necklace
This is also a bib neck piece and the colours make it very easy to be worn as a formal and a casual accessory.
I love pairing it with a dress of a contrasting shade, in this case a block red dress.

Mint Scaled Necklace

This mint colour neck piece can be adorned with  a plain black or white top. I personally prefer color blocking and love mixing colours.

I have paired it with a coral pink scallop top.

Pink and Gold Necklace

The pink and the gold toned neck piece is perfect for the casual and semi formal look. Since the neck piece is bold and statement, keep the outfit muted and simple.

I am wearing this over a simple buttoned up black shirt.

These bold and chunky pieces might be  a little overwhelming but all I have to say ” People will stare. Make it worth their while.- Harry Winston”

If you really want to push the limits, why not try adding some smaller necklaces and chokers with a chunkier ones? You don’t have to do everything one at a time. I love that red dress on you. With a brown jacket (any shade to highlight your accessories) and 4 inch stilleto heels, you would slay. xo

  2. Beautiful pieces! I especially love the mint scaled one! Over the past few months I’ve developed a deeper appreciation for statement pieces and am drawn to them more now – just wish I went out more to wear them more often! I still like simple pieces depending on the mood, too though. 🙂
