Makeup for Beginners

Makeup is Art. Beauty is Spirit

Makeup is Power. Makeup is a form of Art. Above all, Makeup is what you make of it. To some it could mean to create an illusion, to some it could be to enhance what you are born with and for many, it is simply a medium of expression. Whatever it means, if it makes us happy, it is totally worth it.

I am still a novice and quiet a noob when it comes to certain aspects of makeup and I am on the road to mastering this art in its purest form. When I delved into the world of makeup almost two years back , I was overwhelmed and a tad bit intimidated by the makeup universe.

So this post is dedicated for all the newbies out there ready to take on the world and waiting to unleash the power of makeup.

P.S: To wear makeup or not, is completely an individual’s choice. So if you are someone keen to divulge into this world, read on….

The most important makeup product according to me is the base. Unless you have a flawless canvas to work with, building up with other products is futile. One can choose between a BB cream/CC Cream or even a foundation, depending upon your choice and the coverage you desire for. For a day to day basis I suggest, stick to a BB/CC Cream and save the foundation for special occasions or night looks.

Products Shown:

  • Lakme CC cream-INR260
  • Loreal BB cream-INR625
  • MAC Studio Fix Foundation- INR2500

To set the base you need to seal it with a powder or most fondly called a compact. Women with dry skin can completely give it a miss if need be but since I am blessed with super oily skin, I cannot leave the house without a loose powder or  a compact.

Products Show:

  • MAC Studio Fix Compact- INR 2450
  • MAC Loose Powder (both in NC 42)- INR2500

The eyes are undoubtedly  the easier feature to enhance with bleak chances of a faux-pas. To begin with, one can stick to kohl pencils, eyeliner and a mascara. In terms of eye-shadows, start with a nude palette.

Products Shown:

  • Maybelline The Nudes Palette- INR799
  • Maybelline The Rocket Volume Mascara- INR450
  • Loreal Volume Million Lashes- INR500
  • Chambor Kohl Pencil-INR597
  • Lakme Lash Artist-INR428
  • Plum Kajal- IN425
  • Maybelline The Colossal Liner-INR360

When I started with makeup, l loaded up my vanity case with lip glosses. Gradually, I transitioned to lip creams and lipsticks. However, it is a personal choice what you would want to begin with. You would be spoilt for choice with the shades of lipsticks available in the market.

Products Shown :

  • Sugar Lip Crayon- INR799
  • Maybelline ColorShow Lipsticks-INR250
  • MAC Lipsticks-INR1450
  • NYX Lip Cream-INR550
  • MAC & Chambor Lip Gloss-INR1000

Personally, I am a hoarder when it comes to blushes and these babies transform your face and add instant glam. When you are starting off its better to stick to neutrals and nudes and slowly make your way towards the deeper and bolder shades.

Products Shown:

  • MAC Powder bluses-Matte- INR1500
  • Makeup Revolution Cream Blushes- INR550

These were some of my makeup picks for beginners. However, I feel there are no boundaries to makeup and one can manoeuvre and tweak it to suit their individual style.

Because Makeup is more about YOU than the products you’re wearing.

Until next time,

Stay Stylish, Stay YOU

    1. Thank you so much. I am glad you liked reading through. Oh the cream blushes are super pigmented. A little goes a long way though I wouldnt say the quality is great. Also, I personally stick to powder ones. But definitely worth a try☺️☺️
