OOTD~ A Twisted tale of the Black Maxi Dress

Time and again I have been ranting over my affinity towards the colour black and the elegance and charm exuded by this shade. I can’t stress enough on the utmost importance of owning an LBD, in this case a Long Black Dress. You can possess multiple garments in colour black, but investing in a long black dress in a silhouette that flatters your body type is an absolute essential.
The versatility of a long black dress is a figment of one’s imagination and that is precisely the charm of the outfit. So wear it by itself for an understated elan`or twist and tweak it to suit your style and your mood. Sky is the limit here!!!!

Last week I tried two fusion looks with the black maxi and created ensembles which are appropriate for work as well as a casual brunch or pretty much everywhere. My idea was to fuse the contemporary maxi with the ethnic Indian pieces to create an everyday kinda look.

Look 1- The saga of a printed indigo Kurta

I have paired a printed blue kurta as a cape over the black maxi dress. Sealed the outfit with a statement silver necklace to sprinkle a generous dose of ethnic glam.

Outfit Deets

  • Black Dress- Forever21
  • Indigo Kurta- Fab India
  • Necklace- Vajor
  • Heels- Guess

Look 2- A classic printed dupatta

I have put together this look using a chiffon dupatta cinched at the waist with a tan belt. A silver chunky bracelet and a necklace to complete the look.

Outfit Deets

  • Black Maxi- Forever21
  • Dupatta- Fab India
  • Accessories- Westside

When it comes to a black dress, experimentation is the key and a whole new universe is to be explored.

What do you think about the two ensembles?

Until next time,

Stay Stylish, Stay YOU
