The Ikat Story

There had always been something that fascinated me about Indian prints. As much as I love and adore the simplicity of plain textures, a certain part of me gets enticed towards the intricacy and colours exuded by prints.

Some of the prints that I have always loved are bandej, kalamkari and my favourite, Ikkat or Ikat. Probably the reason why I love Ikat the most is that it offers the best of both worlds. It is simple and uncluttered, yet it’s intricacy emanates a charm like nothing else.

So let the story unfold…

Once upon a time, there lived a girl in a city immersed with fashionistas and tagged as a fashion hub . She never believed in a generalized code of fashion and cliche dressing was never her cup of tea. Her underlying motto of life had always being , “When God has blessed you with an inherent and unique sense of style, why waste it on aping trends”.

The Ikat Story is one such chapter of her life. πŸ™‚

A simple Ikat suit from Biba has been worn in two different ways.

Look 1:

Dress it UP

Wear the Kurta as a Dress, accessorize with some statement jewellery and colour block the outfit with heels.
Neckpiece- Zara Accessories

Kitten Heels- Clarks

Look 2

Cape thy Skirt

Wear your Maxi skirt as a dress and throw over your Kurta as a cape. Other rules remain the same; neckpiece to adorn your neck and perfect heels.

Neckpiece- Zara Accessories

Heels- Steve MaddenΒ

Moral of the Story: To stay in Vogue, break those rules

Until next time,

Stay Stylish, Stay YOU

Love
