From mid 2017 , we have seen the fashion scene flourish with the trends of asymmetry. Asymmetry is actually a calculated risk and rarely have we seen the world of fashion been straight and well- manicured. For me, this hemline brings with it a certain bought of freedom and liberty and a generous dose of drama. If we dig a little deep into the history of fashion, the asymmetrical trend was first seen in the Victorian era during the 19th century
Spring/Summer 2018 puts the asymmetrical trend on a pedestal. You find celebrities sporting this rather fluid hemline and the fashion runways have seen models sashay in umpteen versions of the asymmetry. It instantly reminds me of breaking free of the stereotypes, moving miles away from rigidity and embracing the freedom.
The versatility of this trends makes it so much more wearable leaving umpteen scope for imagination. You could sport asymmetry on the neckline, sleeves and hemlines. But beware of an overwhelming dose as that could open the doors to a rather amusing show.
In this post, I am featuring a co-ord set from Zara. The asymmetrical top is worn in 2 ways, thanks to the bow tie at the waist.
Look 1
Tied the knot as a bow in front giving it a peplum vibe. Chunky marsala heels for the added height and gold danglers to finish off the look.
Look 2
A twist to the outfit by tying the knot at the back. A simple watch and a sling for a perfect day event.
This season I actually see myself sporting a lot more of asymmetry in my outfits. For the others who haven’t yet stepped on tis bandwagon, I hope this post would have eased it out for some of you, atleast.
Until next time,
Stay Stylish, Stay You

You’re killing it in this jumper. You’re so right about the asymmetrical hem too.
