7 Days of Blogging -My top 5 Perfumes

“No elegance is possible without perfume. It is the unseen, unforgettable, ultimate accessory.” – Coco Chanel

A perfume is probably one of the most essential accessory and arguably the most neglected one too. Yes, its an ubiquitous truth and lets begin this post on that ‘note’.

We have all browsed through glossy pages of a magazine and watched glamorous tutorials on the wardrobe staples, the classic accessories, the do’s & dont’s of fashion & makeup but rarely have we introspected on what is arguably the most vital of all accessories. Your Scent !!! This invisible accessory, invasive by its nature, is the most statement of all.

As quoted in this post by PursuitofDayDreams “The mark of a truly sublime outfit is one that indulges our senses. Sight is usually a given, but scent should never be remiss”  Your clothes, makeup, heels, even your handbag would create an impact while you are there in person but your perfume, owing to its multidimensional versatility manages to capture much more.

Has it ever occurred, that you get a hug from someone for the first time and what you actually take back is a relationship with the scent of that person. It leaves a nostalgic imprint and every time, you sniff a similar fragrance you are magically transported to memory land with that certain someone. This is probably because of pheromones which are scent triggered hormones that stimulate sexual appetite and desire.

For me, a fragrance has always had this strong connection with memory. I still remember from childhood, my mom used a certain talc which had over the years, become her standard fragrance for me. It had become so indicative that each time, I came in close contact to the talc I would instantly remember my mom.

“Long after one has forgotten what a woman wore, the memory of her perfume lingers.” – Christian Dior

Your perfume precedes you and lingers when you leave. It is the essence of your aura. A fragrance actually speaks the loudest and is the indespensable complement to the personality of an individual.

The ability of a fragrance to make us feel like desired beings, connect us with memories, help us to escape and help us show individuality is phenomenal.

Scent is a very personal thing and I think we don’t always give enough attention to the  buying one.

On that note, let me share my top 5 perfumes. Just like your style, your perfume is also very personal, unique and a mark of your individuality.

In the order of my preference-

  1. Burberry Body
  2. Chanel No.5
  3. Titan Skin Celeste
  4. Chanel Mademoiselle
  5. Chanel Coco Noir

I personally prefer stronger fragrances that last through the day.

The way people smell is more attractive than the way they look

Until next time,

Stay Stylish, Stay You
