The world isn’t really ignorant about this spotted motif. These dotted circles have been doing rounds for several decades and the trend does not seem to be slowing. Hail thee almighty dot !!! Polka dots have been a staple trend and is now a veteran on the runways & street style likewise. It is a huge trend for the S/S20 with the likes Balenciaga, Richard Quinn, Dries Van Noten and Gucci showcasing this ultimate dot with their own levels of versatility.
The runways have seen a generous dose of dots this season with designers like Paco Rabanna, Maison Margiela, Balmian showcasing these creations.
I actually remember owning a polka dot garment in every sphere of my life, the bloomers worn in early school days, the skater skirt in my teenage years, that retro inspired dotted shirt or the overwhelming maxi skirt; so this trend never really leaves your wardrobe. This season, our staple print sees a twist in terms of different silhouettes and a myriad of colors. S/S20 also saw the tiny dots make way for tad extravagant ones, only to create that perfect statement.
I have tried to incorporate this trend in its most traditional form, the cliche, white on black. But a cliche is a cliche, because it always works.
This high slit maxi dress has been paired wth ankle boots and this ensemble can work its way from a day to night look.

Until next time,
